Hindi Pakhwada Observed

The Hindi Department of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar, organised the valedictory function of Hindi Pakhwada on Friday with active participation from faculty members and students.

The programme was organised under the guidance and coordination of Convener Yanam Gapak and Co-convener Nyari Tawe, with the active support of the Hindi Department. Faculty members from various departments, students from different semesters, and distinguished guests attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Co-convener Nyari Tawe highlighted the significance of Hindi Pakhwada in creating awareness about and promoting appreciation for the Hindi language.

The invited subject expert, SCERT Assistant Director Samar B Singh, delivered a special address on the topic “Takniki Yug Mein Hindi Ki Badhti Sambhavnayein” (Growing Possibilities of Hindi in the Technological Age). He highlighted the increasing relevance and opportunities for Hindi in the digital and technological era and spoke about the emerging opportunities available to the younger generation through the use and promotion of Hindi on various technological platforms.

DNGC Hindi HoD Dr Tumbom Riba Jomoh Lilly spoke on the importance of Hindi as a unifying language of the nation. She emphasised its role in connecting people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. At the same time, she stressed the importance of preserving one's mother tongue and local dialects. She encouraged everyone to learn, speak, cherish, and preserve their mother tongues and dialects, describing them as integral to one's identity, culture, and life. She also called upon the audience to develop equal respect and pride for Hindi as well as their own linguistic heritage.

As part of the Hindi Pakhwada celebrations, an exhibition of books by local writers of Arunachal Pradesh was also organised. The exhibition featured a diverse collection of literary works by Arunachali writers, providing students, faculty members, and visitors an opportunity to explore and appreciate the state's rich literary, cultural, and linguistic heritage. The initiative also encouraged reading among students and highlighted the valuable contributions of local writers to the literary landscape of Arunachal Pradesh.

The programme featured a variety of cultural and dance performances by students from different semesters. A special cultural performance by faculty members of the Hindi Department was also presented.

Winners of various competitions organised as part of Hindi Pakhwada were felicitated with prizes and mementoes. The competitions included poetry recitation, self-composed poetry recitation, and an inter-semester dance competition. A poetry recitation competition for faculty members from non-Hindi departments also witnessed enthusiastic participation.

The programme also included the felicitation of former students of DNGC who secured positions among the top 10 in the Rajiv Gandhi University entrance examination conducted under CUET in June 2026. The felicitation recognised their academic achievements and served as an encouragement to the students.

The active participation of students and faculty members from different departments and semesters contributed significantly to the success of the programme. The event created a positive atmosphere of appreciation for the Hindi language while also highlighting the importance of respecting linguistic diversity, preserving local languages and dialects, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.
